The Heat Death of CAMRA

The theory is that after the Big Bang all that matter in the universe was shot out into a great void.

Interactions and reactions between quarks, leptons, neutrinos create atoms. Interactions between atoms create elements and the elements react and interact creating whatever it creates; galaxies, stars, planets, life.

All the while everything is moving further away from it’s starting point.

As with everything, all things must pass.

The previous old creations; galaxies, stars, planets, life ends but results in the creation of new galaxies, stars, planets, life.

All the while everything is moving further away from it’s starting point.

What was previously new becomes old and also ends but this still results in the creation of new galaxies, stars, planets, life.

All the while everything is moving exponentially further away from it’s starting point.

At some point it is hypothesised that the creation of new things from the death of old things will slow.

That matter will have moved so far apart, not only from it’s original starting point but from other bits of matter that interactions and reactions will grow less and less.

Matter will break down into it’s constituent elements.

All the while everything is moving exponentially further away from it’s starting point and everything else.

Elements will break down to their constituent atoms.

All the while everything is moving exponentially further away from it’s starting point and everything else.

These atoms will break down into their constituent quarks, leptons, neutrinos.

All the while everything is moving exponentially further away from it’s starting point and everything else.

So far apart that only a universal Dark Age is postulated to exist.

The death of everything.

Not merely as spectacular as the phrase “heat death” would lend itself to a layman.

I’m more an optimistic fan of the oscillating universe theory. A big bang leads to a big crunch which leads to an even bigger bang and a subsequent bigger crunch, where things inevitably return back to their starting point and begin anew.

Of course all these things are theories, based on what is observable and what can be predicted based on established patterns of behaviour.

The fun is we’ll never find out, unless heaven exists and if it does, it better have a pub.

“Today a young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Here’s Tom with the Weather.”
